Questions people ask

Can I use poker rooms legally in the UK?

Yes, if you are 18 or older and use an operator licensed by UK Gambling Commission. Always check the operator's licence on the regulator's public register.

Why do some sites show no bonus?

We only show an offer when its key terms are complete, checked in the last 30 days and within local rules. If any of that fails, we link to the site without offer wording.

Do operators pay to be ranked higher?

Commission and reader response can move the order, which we disclose above the list. Scores never change for money, sites under 7.5 cannot reach the top three, and paid placements are labelled Featured.

How do I check a UK casino is licensed?

Use the Gambling Commission's public register. The site should show its licence and let you click through to the register, where the licence details, including the activities and website domain names, should match the site you are on. You should also be able to see the business's address, trading names and current licence status.

How does GAMSTOP work?

GAMSTOP is a free scheme that blocks you from online gambling with every operator licensed in Great Britain, all of which must take part. You choose six months, one year, five years, or five years with auto-renewal. You cannot cancel before the minimum period ends, and the block stays on afterwards until you contact GAMSTOP to remove it.

What is the maximum stake on online slots in the UK?

£5 per spin for adults aged 25 and over, since 9 April 2025, and £2 for adults aged 18 to 24, since 21 May 2025. The limits apply to online slots only, not to other casino games such as roulette or blackjack.

Is there a limit on bonus wagering in the UK?

Yes. Since 19 January 2026, Gambling Commission rules cap wagering requirements at 10 times the bonus. Operators also cannot offer promotions that require you to use two or more products, such as betting and slots, to unlock a reward. Other conditions, such as time limits, still apply, so read the terms.

Can I gamble with a credit card in the UK?

No. Gambling with a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, both online and in person. The only exception is non-remote lottery tickets bought face to face, for example in a shop. The ban covers both remote and land-based gambling, and applies to every operator licensed by the Gambling Commission.

How old do you have to be to gamble in the UK?

In most cases 18. The Gambling Commission says the minimum legal age is 18 for online gambling, casinos, betting shops and bingo, and the National Lottery minimum age has also been 18 since October 2021. Licensed sites must check your age and identity before you can gamble.

What can I do if a UK gambling site won't resolve my complaint?

Complain to the business first; it has 8 weeks to resolve your complaint. If you are still unhappy after its process, take the dispute to its Alternative Dispute Resolution provider, a free, independent service. The Gambling Commission does not decide individual complaints, but you can still tell it about a business's conduct.
